John Richardson

John Richardson became a Christian whilst studying Biology and Psychology at the University of Keele in 1971. From there he went to study theology at St John's College Nottingham in 1973, and in 1976 he started working in the parish of St Paul's, Blackheath, in the Black Country to the west of Birmingham.

After a further spell as Priest-in-Charge of an inner-city Birmingham parish, he went to be chaplain of what was then the North East London Polytechnic in Stratford, east London. John remained as chaplain until 1999, by which time the institution had become the University of East London, but in 1993 he interrupted his chaplaincy work to go to Australia for ten months to study for a Diploma in Theology at Moore College in Sydney.

In 1999 John left the chaplaincy, and in 2000 he came to work as Assistant Minister in the United Benefice of Henham, Elsenham and Ugley.

John is the author of three books, Get Into the Bible, God, Sex and Marriage and Revelation Unwrapped. He has also written numerous articles for magazines and journals. He has travelled widely in speaking to various Christian groups, including several return trips to Australia. In 2000 he enoyed the shortest possible career as a member of the Church of England's General Synod, attending just one meeting before losing his seat in a re-run of the elections.
