Whilst eagerly anticipating the dare-devil exploits of Teddy Bear Bungee Jumping at the fete, some of you were kind enough to complete our questionnaire.

Of the 26 surveys completed, 9 were from "regulars" at church in Elsenham and 2 more attended elsewhere. We've set those aside and concentrated on what the other 15 told us - none of whom had been to Elsenham church within the last month: 6 had attended earlier this year; 5 more than a year ago and 4 never.

Of the 6 attending earlier this year

4 had done so because of their "special event"
2 had done so just because they wanted to
NONE said that they had attended because they were invited or were made to by their family

3 of the 5 attending more than a year ago (the other 2 didn't say) had done so just because they wanted to.

When asked to comment about their experience of church ...

4 described it as too old-fashioned ... but 3 of these 4 had never attended
1 thought it too serious
NONE described it as too boring
NONE described it as too quiet
NONE described it as too noisy
NONE described it as too long

Reasons for people not attending church ...

6 were doing something else
2 had a family member doing something else
2 just didn't want to
2 didn't believe in God
1 thought the people unfriendly
NONE thought church irrelevant
NONE objected to us using the village hall
